In grades K – 2 our bright airy classrooms provide an atmosphere that is conducive to learning. Every class has a fully credentialed nurturing teacher and a highly qualified classroom aide. Students in these grades are given the firm foundation in reading, writing, math, and religion necessary to achieve grade level success. Along with a California standards based grade level curriculum students also receive schooling in Religion, Physical Education, Music, Art, and Spanish. All Kindergarten students are paired with an eighth grade buddy who guides them on field trips and during Mass. All classes attend grade level community oriented and curriculum based field trips like horse drawn sleigh rides, a day at a family run farm, and shopping at a local grocery store. Students in these grades have a safe fenced playground with a variety of activities designed to promote imaginative play. Peaceful playground strategies are used to teach grade level appropriate conflict resolution skills.
In grades 3 – 5, students are taught a grade level California standards based curriculum by highly
capable credentialed teachers in self-contained classrooms. St. Theresa School sets high
expectations for student success in all areas. Students become proficient in the grade level skills
needed for success in middle school classes. Students also receive lessons in Religion, Spanish,
Computer Technology, Physical Education, Art, and Music. In religion classes, students are
encouraged to follow Jesus’ example and treat others the way they wish to be treated. Students are
expected to be responsible, respectful, and caring at all times. Students in these classes attend a
variety of curriculum-based field trips. Students in third grade also participate in ice skating classes.
Students in fourth grade also attend a week of swimming lessons. Students in fifth grade are
provided with a ski week where they are taught downhill skiing. Fifth graders are invited to
