Marriage is the vocation by which spouses live out the qualities of the
Gospel and take their right place in the life of the Church. This
intention is formally declared in the marriage ceremony.
St. Theresa Parish is a part of the Diocese of Sacramento and the
Guidelines of the Diocese are strictly followed.
We request that you follow these guidelines:
|
| 1. |
To allow time for the
various steps in the marriage preparation program, all couples must
contact the Parish at least two months prior to the anticipated
wedding date.
|
| 2. |
A letter from your parish
priest stating that you have permission to be married outside your
home parish is required. Your parish priest will then complete all
the necessary documentation required by the Church for all
marriages, including a document stating that you as a couple have
completed the required marriage preparation program of your diocese.
These documents should then be forwarded to Saint Theresa Church no
later than 2 weeks prior to the wedding date.
|
| 3. |
The established Church
fee for non-parishioners of St. Theresa Parish is $1,000. A deposit of
$400 should be forwarded with the
marriage information form.
No firm reservation will be accepted until these have been received.
You will receive verification of your time and date by return mail.
The deposit will be applied to the Church fee. A personal stipend to
the priest performing the ceremony is customary.
|
| 4. |
Weddings may be scheduled
on any day of the week. The Pastor or Parochial Vicar of St. Theresa
normally performs all weddings. However, visiting clergy are
permitted with the permission of the pastor.
|
| 5. |
Our parish organist
should be contacted if organ music is desired. The organist will
arrange the fee with you. You may also have your own music.
|
| 6. |
Pictures and videos are
permitted during the ceremony if taken unobtrusively.
|
| 7. |
Members of the wedding
party should conduct themselves at all times with the decorum
befitting a Church. Alcoholic beverages are not tolerated at the
rehearsal or wedding ceremony.
|
| 8. |
The use of confetti, rice, or birdseed is not
permitted on church property.
|
| 9. |
Rehearsals are normally
scheduled the evening before the ceremony. |
